ARIAS advised the participating banks in a US$350 million syndicated financing, led by Bladex and Santander as Lead Arrangers, granted to Grupo Imperia, now Grupo Financiero BSC, for the acquisition of Banistmo Panama, formerly owned by Grupo Cibest.
The transaction represents one of the most significant financings in the financial sector in the region and is part of Grupo Financiero BSC's expansion strategy in Latin America through the integration of Banistmo into its financial platform.
In this transaction, ARIAS acted as local counsel to the banks participating in the lending syndicate in El Salvador, providing legal advice on all Salvadoran law matters required for the successful closing of the transaction.
The ARIAS team was led by Partner Ana Mercedes López and Senior Counsel Rafael Burgos, both members of the firm's Banking and Finance practice.
This transaction reaffirms ARIAS' extensive experience advising domestic and international financial institutions on syndicated financings and highly complex cross-border transactions, further strengthening the firm's position as a leading advisor in some of the region's most significant transactions.
We thank our clients for the trust they placed in our team to support them throughout this important transaction and congratulate all parties involved on the successful closing of the deal.
