Link Legal represented Mr. Anil G. Karkhanis, Retd. Executive Director and Legal Advisor of IDBI Bank before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court in a Petition for securing license to produce and publish a translation of a literary work titled “The Spirit’s Pilgrimage” authored by Ms. Madeleine Slade in Marathi Language under Section 32 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and Rule 32 of the Copyrights Rule, 2013 and was successful in securing the license.
The Hon’ble Bombay High Court, presided by his Lordship Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manish Pitale on 21st March 2023 was pleased to grant the first license in India to produce and publish a translation of a literary work under Section 32 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and Rule 32 of the Copyrights Rule, 2013. This is a landmark judgment, setting a new precedent under the Copyright Act, 1957.
