Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg LLP (AMS) announced that it has promoted lawyers Joshua Hartman and Lauren E. Peterson to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2020. These promotions follow AMS’s selection of Deanna Tanner Okun to succeed founder Jim Adduci as managing partner beginning in 2020.

About the New Partners

Joshua Hartman joined AMS in 2018 after practicing for a decade at a large, international law firm. Josh’s practice focuses on representing clients in intellectual property, antitrust, and other commercial disputes before the United States International Trade Commission and United States district courts. He represents a diverse group of clients, from individual inventors to Fortune 500 companies, drawn from a wide array of industries, including life sciences, consumer products, automotive, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and construction. Josh has received a Distinguished Legal Writing Award from the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, and Super Lawyers, Washington, D.C. has named Josh a Rising Star in Intellectual Property litigation for six straight years, 2014–2019.  Josh received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his L.L.M. in intellectual property law from the London School of Economics and Political Science, graduating with distinction. 

Lauren E. Peterson has been an attorney at AMS since 2012. She has counseled clients in a diverse assortment of industries, including lithium-ion batteries, vinyl flooring, steel, pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements. She has handled claims involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, false designation of origin, and antitrust violations.  Lauren has experience in all stages of an ITC investigation, from the drafting of a complaint through final appeals to the Commission. This experience has involved significant collaboration with domestic and foreign co-counsel, as well as industry experts.  Prior to joining the firm, Lauren was an associate at an intellectual property boutique handling patent and trademark prosecution for U.S. and foreign clients, as well as copyright and trademark litigation matters in federal court.  Lauren is a contributing author to A Lawyer’s Guide to Section 337 Investigations Before the U.S. International Trade Commission, published by the American Bar Association. Lauren was named by Super Lawyers, Washington, D.C. as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property in 2019. Lauren received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and her B.S. from The George Washington University, cum laude.
