Alston & Bird has deepened its ability to serve clients in the investment funds industry with the addition of partner Colby Jenkins in the firm’s Charlotte office and counsel Dustin Littrell in Dallas. Both join from Moore & Van Allen PLLC, where Jenkins led the firm’s Investment Management Practice.
Tim Selby, Alston & Bird partner and leader of the firm’s Investment Management Team, said, “Colby and Dustin add depth to our strong fund formation team and allow us to grow in important and strategic geographical regions.”
With almost 20 years of experience, Jenkins advises on all aspects of structuring, documenting, and operating U.S. and offshore investment funds. His practice encompasses a wide range of investment management matters related to both sponsor and limited partner representations, including the regulatory and contractual elements of closed-end, open-end, and hybrid private fund structures, such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and real estate funds. He also counsels domestic and foreign clients on U.S. federal and state investment adviser regulatory considerations.
Littrell represents private investment fund sponsors and investment managers in all facets and stages of investment fund formation, structuring, and operations. In addition to advising on formation, operational, regulatory, and investor relations matters, he counsels clients on compliance with U.S. securities laws.
“Investment funds is a busy and growing area for us,” said Sandy Brown, Alston & Bird partner and co-chair of the firm’s Financial Services & Products Group. “Adding an attorney of Colby’s stature significantly deepens our footprint in Charlotte, home to our nationally recognized private equity practice, while Dustin’s arrival in Dallas meets our long-term strategic goal of expanding our funds practice in Texas, both of which position us well to capitalize on demand for our services from an expanding client base both in the U.S. and worldwide.”
Jenkins and Littrell are the most recent additions to Alston & Bird’s growing investment management team. They follow the arrival of London funds partner Saloni Joshi, who joined the firm in 2020.
“Colby and Dustin add further strength to our client offering and reinforce our position as a leader in investment funds,” said Jason Solomon, partner in charge of Alston & Bird’s Charlotte office. “It’s rare in the Charlotte market to see a lateral of Colby’s caliber and reputation, and we are excited to have him on board and eager to work with both him and Dustin across our global corporate platform to help clients deliver on their corporate agendas in what promises to be another record-setting market.”
