Alston & Bird has enhanced its environmental litigation capabilities with the addition of Jason Levin, who joins the firm’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group as a partner in the Los Angeles office.
“Jason brings seasoned perspective and a sterling reputation for helping clients defend complex products liability, toxic torts, and class action matters, including high-stakes disputes involving chemicals and the oil and gas industry,” said Greg A. Christianson, partner and co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group. “In addition, he shares our commitment to excellent service, intellectual rigor, and creative problem solving in a fast-paced and dynamic area of the law.”
Bolstered by nearly three decades of litigation experience, Jason’s practice also focuses on commercial litigation, California’s Unfair Competition Law and anti-SLAPP statutes, the Lanham Act and false advertising, and California consumer protection statutes.
“With his valuable insights into litigation and regulation in California, Jason is a fantastic complement to our deep bench of specialists across the country,” said Jeffrey A. Rosenfeld, partner in charge of Alston & Bird’s Los Angeles office. “His arrival better positions our team to help clients navigate their most challenging issues at the state, federal, and appellate levels.”
Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Group distinguishes itself through a deep understanding of the legal, scientific, and technical issues associated with environmental and land use regulation and litigation. The lawyers draw on that understanding to craft compelling arguments on behalf of clients both in court and before regulatory authorities in nearly every state. In addition, the team helps protect clients’ land use projects – including high-profile and controversial endeavors – throughout administrative processes, ensuring that all issues are properly addressed in environmental impact reports (EIRs), environmental impact statements (EISs), and other environmental review documents. These lawyers also have broad experience with multiparty Superfund litigation and citizen suits brought under the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as well as claims brought under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
