Aird & Berlis is pleased to announce that Aaron Bains, Danny Kharazmi, Josh Kumar, David Neligan and Kenneth Pimentel have become partners of the firm.
Aaron Bains is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets and Venture Finance Groups. He works closely with investors, often U.S. and Canadian banks and investment funds on their lending transactions in Canada. Aaron also assists emerging and high growth companies as they use debt to grow their businesses. On domestic and international M&A transactions, Aaron serves a range of clients, including, strategic/financial buyers, family offices and retiring or otherwise divesting sellers.
Danny Kharazmi is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets Group. His practice focuses on debt and equity financings, going public transactions, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. He also advises on continuous disclosure obligations and corporate governance matters. Danny represents issuers and investment dealers in a broad range of industries, including cannabis, asset management, technology, mining, energy, entertainment and Fintech.
Josh Kumar is a member of the firm’s Tax Group. His practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution with the Canada Revenue Agency and Department of Justice. His practice also includes private company and individual tax planning. Josh holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation and completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Course. This cross-training helps him to identify areas of risk and uncertainty in complicated tax matters.
David Neligan is a member of the firm's Municipal & Land Use Planning and Expropriation Groups. David provides advice and representation to both private and public sector clients, from individual landowners to major developers to municipalities. His experience includes zoning permissions and variances, official plan amendments, expropriations, neighbour disputes, and review and interpretation of zoning bylaws.
Kenneth Pimentel is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on all facets of real estate transactions, including the acquisition, disposition, development, financing and leasing of commercial, office, retail and industrial lands. As a former litigator practising primarily in the area of commercial real estate, Kenneth also has extensive experience dealing with a broad range of commercial real estate disputes.
