Sergey Sosnovsky, Head of the Tax Practice in Pepeliaev Group's St Petersburg Office, was announced as a new partner of the firm at the regular partners’ meeting.

Sergey specialises in tax law and has been representing the firm’s clients in tax disputes for over 15 years. He has particular expertise in taxation issues for companies from the banking, oil and gas, engineering, commercial and industrial sectors, and in the tax aspects of structuring business in Russia. Sergey’s portfolio contains a whole range of complicated disputes with tax authorities, many of which are precedent setting cases.

He is actively involved in academic and teaching activities. He has a PhD in Law and has been teaching tax law at the law department of St Petersburg State University for more than 10 years. Sergey is a co-author of the study guide “Taxation of income and profit” and one of the authors of the textbook “Tax law. The special part”, under the overall editorship of Sergey Pepeliaev.

Leading international and Russian legal ratings, including Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 and Pravo 300 praise Sergey as one of the best tax lawyers in Russia, noting his “excellent analytical skills and attention to detail”. In 2017, Sergey was recognised the Lawyer of the Year for tax law according to the Best Lawyers rating.
