The focus of the firm is exclusively on the insurance legal market. The firm works for insurers, local authorities, corporates, selfinsureds and brokers and then pick up from across a range of industry sectors and adopts a flexible approach to ensure that teams are tailored to meet the needs of the clients. Central to the firm’s approach is cost containment and the minimisation of leakage. Plexus aims to control indemnity spend and reduce life cycles. Senior practitioners will work across all classes of cases to ensure the best possible service and outcomes for their clients. In today’s highly competitive marketplace, the firm appreciates the importance of being proportionate in the advice it offers. PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK
Personal injury claims relating to Employers’ Liability, Public Liability and Motor claims are the mainstay of the firm’s work. Plexus defends personal injury claims for physical injury, disease/illness or psychological injury/illness and ranging from fast track to catastrophic loss (multi-track) and specialist injury cases. The firm specialises in dealing with all aspects of motor claims from injury of the utmost severity to high-volume, ‘low value’ claims. The firm’s strategy has been to build up specialist teams covering all the major fields such as Occupational Disease, Travel, Property and the Public Sector/Police Law as well as developing a number of niche specialisms e.g. Healthcare, Sports Law, Costs and Outsource Claims Handling services.

CLIENTS
The firm’s principal client base is drawn from: Insurance companies, reinsurers, brokers, selfinsured, corporates and the public sector. Clients include: Direct Line Group, RSA, QBE Insurance Group, Aspen, Tesco Stores Limited, Transport for London, Tokio Marine HCC Insurance Tour Operators’ Liability Scheme. Gatwick/Manchester/London City/Leeds-Bradford airports, Jet2Holidays, Metropolitan Police Service, Greater Manchester Police, Inner London Consortium, Crown Commercial Services, Global Aerospace, AIG, Pen Underwriting Limited, West Midlands Police and Ageas.

INTERNATIONAL
The firm’s international work is largely undertaken via its property risks & coverage, travel and aviation practices. It manages recovery claims and defends litigation around the world using a long-standing network of trusted legal advisers in many jurisdictions. The blend of the firm’s own teams with the expertise of its network of local lawyers and the application of rigid cost controls means it is well qualified to guide clients through the process of international dispute resolution.

The firm’s experience spans such jurisdictions as: the USA including individual States, Africa, Canada, UAE, Europe and various offshore jurisdictions such as Jersey, Gibraltar, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Antigua.

RECRUITMENT
In addition to the lateral hires listed for individual practice areas, Gareth Holme Associate joined the Property Risks & Coverage team, in the firm’s Leeds office, from DAC Beachcroft in May 2020. Julia Messervy-Whiting joined the team in the Evesham office from Shakespeare Martineau in May 2020. Julia specialises in Catastrophic Loss and Regulatory work.

The firm runs a continuous recruitment process throughout the year to meet all the needs of the business and its clients. In addition to its ongoing recruitment programme it has one of the legal sectors’ most vibrant Apprenticeship programmes. The firm’s annual apprenticeship recruitment process commences in November each year for a September intake the following year. Internally the firm runs an annual Associate application process and its own bespoke Talent Pathways programme covering: Trainee Technical Co-ordinator, Trainee Team Leader, Trainee Solicitor and Solicitor Apprentice positions.
