Fadi Hassoun is a partner at Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants, managing the Abu Dhabi office. He is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years of experience in Lebanon and the UAE. Fadi specialises in corporate & commercial matters and dispute resolution with a focus on the practice areas of real estate, employment & labour, financial crime and criminal law in the UAE and throughout the GCC region. Fadi is experienced in all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration and mediation. Several of his largest clients include prominent insurance companies covering several areas of law. He has represented and succeeded in criminal complaints, civil & commercial disputes, personal injury and large-scale arbitration claims.

Bachir Nawar, Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, Shuaa

Bachir Nawar is the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer of SHUAA Capital psc. He manages the multijurisdictional legal and compliance requirements of the business and acts as the corporate secretary to the board. With over 18 years of experience, Bachir focuses on transactional cross border work, strategic distressed opportunities and contentious matters. He is known for his expertise in the area of shareholder activism and specializes in governance improvement and implementation of portfolio turn-around strategies. Bachir holds an LLB from Saint Joseph University, Beirut, Lebanon.

Rita Waked, Legal Consultant, Frayland

Dr. Rita Waked holds a PhD from Paris II, Assas in International Law and an LLM in Litigation, Arbitration and ADR. She has more than 15 years of experience as a practicing lawyer and as general counsel for a construction company based in Dubai. She has been involved in several arbitration cases related to large construction projects. She is an approved legal trainer as part of the Continuing Legal Professional Development Program on behalf of the Dubai Legal Affairs Department which regulates the legal profession in Dubai. She is also a lecturer at Saint-Joseph University, Dubai Branch. Dr. Waked has published several books and articles related inter alia to BOT and PPP contracts.

Joanna Lane, Editor – Canada, Africa, Caribbean, the Middle East and Offshore, Chambers and Partners

Joanna joined Chambers in 2010 as a researcher on the Global team, before being promoted to Deputy Editor. She took on the role of Editor of the Canada guide in its inaugural year in 2014, and was appointed editor of Chambers Global (ROW) in 2019. Prior to moving to London she worked at a nightlife magazine in Singapore, and taught English in Taiwan. Joanna grew up in Canada, and graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a degree in International Development. She also completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism at the London School of Journalism.
