Stéphane Gelin, Partner, Head of the CMS Tax Group - CMS France

Stéphane Gelin is Head of the CMS Tax Group. In this position, he leads an international team of 400 tax lawyers. Stéphane specialises in international taxation and transfer pricing. He has advised French and international multinational corporations in this field for nearly thirty years. He has participated in several major projects involving the structuring of global transfer pricing, operational restructuring and the documentation of French and foreign transfer pricing. He offers his clients assistance in French and international tax litigation (specifically competent authority procedures, arbitration procedures and advance pricing agreements). He also advises clients on international financing matters, cross-border restructuring, joint ventures and acquisitions.

Angelika Thies, Partner - CMS Germany

Angelika Thies has long-standing experience advising family-owned businesses and groups on all German and international aspects of company taxation, particularly regarding complex restructurings within groups of companies and corporate succession. Her German and international tax law expertise is also sought in the context of real estate transactions, including tax due diligence and structuring. She advises her clients on an ongoing basis on tax planning and structuring as well as on tax audits and also represents them in fiscal court proceedings. Moreover, Angelika regularly advises internationally operating companies on transfer pricing issues as they can arise in the case of a business policy change or in the context of documentation obligations.

Annabelle Bailleul-Mirabaud, Partner - CMS France

Annabelle Bailleul-Mirabaud specialises in international taxation with an expertise on permanent establishments, CFC and substance issues, assisting leading multinational groups in tax audits and litigation. She also assists multinational groups on a day-to-day basis in relation to international taxation matters including transfer pricing and taxation of cross-border flows. Annabelle has a significant experience in the structuring and implementation of worldwide incentive plans.

Cornelia Wiendl, Counsel - CMS France

Cornelia Wiendl has extensive experience in the structuring of cross-border open-end and closed-end funds and advises institutional investors as well as family offices on the tax implications of investing in funds and other financial products. She also advises on the structuring, financing and implementation of national and international M&A and capital market transactions and represents her clients in any kind of tax disputes, including proceedings before the Federal Fiscal Court. Cornelia’s clients include financial institutions, institutional investors, investment funds, insurance companies as well as multinational companies and private clients.

Valeria Romagnoli, Senior Associate - CMS Italy

Valeria Romagnoli began her collaboration with the Firm’s Tax Department in 2020, as Senior Associate. Before joining CMS, Valeria worked for about 9 years in the tax department of an international law firm. Working in the Milan office, she focuses her activity on transfer pricing, permanent establishment and international taxation issues in general. Valeria regularly assists multinational companies in risk analysis and related consultancy activities as well as in the management of disputes with the tax authorities, both in the pre-litigation and possible litigation phase. In addition, Valeria has extensive experience in international amicable dispute resolution procedures, advance agreement procedures on transfer pricing and permanent establishment and patent box procedures. She also deals with forensics and document analysis, for the purpose of identifying tax risks or in support of negotiation with the tax authorities or tax / criminal-tax disputes.

Frida Sjostedt, Deputy Editor - Chambers and Partners

Frida started as a researcher for the Europe Guide in 2014 and has been the Deputy Editor responsible for Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Liechtenstein since 2016. Prior to joining Chambers, she worked in hotel management. She graduated from the University of Brighton in International Hospitality Management, and later completed the GDL at BPP University in London. She speaks German and Swedish and has a higher education certificate in Mathematics.
