The family and child care department, based across England and Wales, are experts in all aspects of family and child care law. Within the Birmingham based team all solicitors undertake their own advocacy, which enables clients to have consistency and continuity throughout their proceedings.


The department offers representation in a wide range of matters, including assistance in divorce and separation issues, Special Guardianship Orders, Care Orders, Supervision Orders and Emergency Protection Orders, including Non-Molestation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders and adoption.


The department has a specialism in representing clients facing emergency situations, including removal of children, safeguarding of children, and domestic abuse.


The team has an extensive range of expertise, for example culturally complex cases including Islamic Law, international elements in divorce and financial proceedings, Hague and non-Hague countries, in Private Children Law proceedings, Children Public Law proceedings, and FGM cases. They are also specialists in international child abduction cases, Wardship and relocation cases, and have a niche practice in Forced Marriage Protection Orders.
