The Planning team at Cleaver Fulton Rankin is led by Chairman and Director, Karen Blair. The team offer a unique set of skills, with a wealth and depth of experience in the three inter linked disciplines of environmental law, planning law and public law, with a particular emphasis on judicial review. The team has worked on matters with clients in respect of significant infrastructure developments across Northern Ireland and in the agri-food sector acting for a number of significant food producers.

Whilst the team predominantly works for promoters of schemes and specific industry groupings, the team does have experience in acting for objectors, whether it is commercial rival operators or residents.

The planning team provide advice on planning issues, through site or business acquisition stage and also on operational issues in close liaison with our real estate, corporate, procurement and insolvency teams.

In terms of associations, Chairman and Director Karen Blair is a Legal Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute and is a Member of the local Branch Executive Committee. Karen was also elected to the Council of the UK Environmental Law Association in 2014 and is a member of the Northern Ireland Council of the Confederation of British Industry. Director, Brendan Martyn, is a Committee Member of the Environmental and Planning Law Association for Northern Ireland and the UK Environmental Law Association.
