Schalast advises Mainova WebHouse on the construction and leasing of a new Frankfurt data center campus

Frankfurt am Main,

A real estate team led by lead partner Markus Ruhmann is advising Mainova WebHouse GmbH & Co. KG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mainova AG, on the construction and leasing of a data center campus with approximately 10,500 square meters of space and a total IT load of approximately 30 megawatts in the Seckbach district of Frankfurt. The transaction has an investment volume of EUR 300 million. The campus will be leased to an international cloud provider on a long-term basis.

The project is a sustainability pioneer among current real estate projects, especially in the data center sector. This is because, according to Mainova, the buildings have an optimum use of space. In addition, the waste heat is used as heating energy.

Oliver Schiebel, CEO of Mainova WebHouse, emphasizes the central importance of data centers as an element of digital infrastructures. "The campus forms a lighthouse project at the interface of digitalization and sustainability. It is essential for the Rhine-Main region - but also for Germany as a whole - to drive innovation in both areas, and we are making a contribution to this, for example, through certified ecological construction in accordance with the Lead Gold Standard."

The data center campus is to be supplied with one hundred percent green electricity. The company's own photovoltaic systems also contribute to this. The greening of the facade and outdoor area provides insulation and cooling. In addition, the neighboring Batschkapp will be heated with the waste heat.

Markus Ruhmann explains: "Mainova Webhouse impressively demonstrates here how the high ESG requirements that the real estate industry is currently facing can be used as an opportunity. The new campus will set completely new standards. We are very pleased to be involved in this exciting lighthouse project."
