David H. Marion, Senior Counsel at White and Williams, recently presented the prestigious Benjamin Nathan Cardozo Memorial Award to United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. The award was presented on behalf of Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society, of which David is the National Chancellor, at the organization’s 96thAnnual National Convention in Sarasota, Florida.
Justice Stephen Breyer was appointed as Supreme Court Justice by President Clinton in 1994. Prior to that, he served on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, becoming Chief Judge in 1990. Justice Breyer is a graduate of Stanford, Oxford, and Harvard Law School and taught law for many years as a professor at Harvard Law School and at the Kennedy School of Government.
The Benjamin Nathan Cardozo Memorial Award was established by the Tau Epsilon Rho Law Fraternity in 1941 and is presented to those whose life work best exemplifies the ideals of that great jurist. Notable recent award recipients include Justice Antonin Scalia (2015) and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (2010).
