Work Highlights

-Advised the World Bank through its Long-Term Finance Division on the legal, regulatory and tax aspects for the proposed set – up of an infrastructure debt fund and Project Bond to crowd in domestic investors for local currency financing;

- Advised Distribution Now Inc., a global distributor of various oilfield products and equipment, with respect to its establishing operations in Uganda in connection with the Total E&P Tilenga project;

-Reviewed the International Trade Compliance (ITC) Program of Walmart Inc. and carried out a comprehensive assessment of whether the ITC Program is appropriately design to address legal, regulatory and other risks in Uganda;

-Advised Mastercard Inc to access a potential investment by way of convertible promissory notes in Airtel Mobile Commerce B.V based in Netherlands, in a transaction valued at USD $ 100,000,000;

-Advised Stitching Medical Credit Fund on a Working Capital Facility amounting to USD 2, 500,000 to a leading medical company for the supply of COVID 19 kits to the Government of Uganda;

-Advised Platinum Equity on the Ugandan aspects of its acquisitions of Johnson & Johnson’s blood glucose monitoring business;

-Advising the Islamic Development Bank on the legal regulatory requirements for sovereign debt issuance.

Personal

Arnold is a Partner in the corporate department at Engoru, Mutebi Advocates. He holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Hull, as well as an LL.M in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick. His focus areas are Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Energy and Natural Resources law, Project finance, Private Equity and Competition Law.
