The Complex Claims and Litigation Department focuses on representing insurers in asbestos, pollution and health hazard matters (APH) as well as aviation exposure matters. Handling nationwide claims, the team provides comprehensive support from legal evaluation to settlement for aviation cases involving toxic exposure. In APH matters, Mendes’ expertise lies in addressing complex coverage issues related to asbestos and health hazards.

Healthcare: 

The Mendes Healthcare Department portfolio is predominantly comprised of healthcare related professional liability exposures, including cases against healthcare systems, long term care facilities, physicians and allied health practitioners, but they have extensive expertise in other areas as well. The department manage cases across the country, while also handling coverage issues and working closely with underwriters in evaluating risks, including by performing more than 50 reviews of claims portfolios/operations each year.

The Miscellaneous Errors & Omissions department represents insurers covering a variety of professions beyond law firms, including accountants, architects, engineers, insurance agents, real estate agents, and more. The team evaluates coverage, monitors claims, and represents insurers in connection with property products related to financial institutions.
