General Counsel research
Who can take part?
Participation is intended for in-house legal teams and our rankings highlight senior legal leaders.
What should we include in the submission?
A strong submission is specific and evidence based. We recommend including:
Role and remit: scope, seniority, reporting line, jurisdictions covered
Team overview: size, structure, key senior team members, changes over the period
Key achievements: high-impact matters/projects (what you did, why it mattered, complexity, outcome)
Leadership and strategy: how you lead, innovate, manage risk, influence stakeholders, drive change
Trends: trends affecting the industry and organisation, and how the legal team responded (e.g. regulation, disputes, transactions, governance)
How detailed should matter descriptions be?
Include enough context for us to understand impact and complexity, and where possible, include dates/period, jurisdictions, your role, business value, and outcome.
How many referees can we provide, and who makes a good referee?
You can provide up to five referees. Referees should include those who have worked with the legal function recently and are able to assess the in-house team and individual lawyers, such as external counsel, other senior in-house peers and third-party advisors.
Please list referees who can comment on specific work and leadership, not just general reputation.
After you submit, our research process typically includes the following steps:
We review the submission alongside market feedback and other relevant sources.
We may request an interview to explore key points in more detail.
We will contact the referees you have listed as part of our independent research.
We then complete our analysis and finalise results in advance of publication.
Do I need to submit to be considered?
A submission is strongly recommended as it provides information that helps us determine whether an individual should be ranked.
Will our submission and interview be kept confidential?
Yes. We treat submissions and interview feedback as confidential and use them for research purposes only.
What is the deadline to submit?
The deadline for submissions is the 31st of July 2026.
Where can I find the submission form?
You can find the form on our Global Guide landing page, our submissions page and using the following link: Chambers and Partners' 2027 General Counsel Submission Form.
