Main Areas of Practice:  

Appellate:
State and federal appellate experience at all levels in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, including experience before the United States Supreme Court.

Bankruptcy & Restructuring:
Represent both creditors and debtors in bankruptcy, workouts, foreclosures, and creditors’ rights litigation. Counsel clients in corporate and partnership restructurings, receiverships and dissolutions outside of bankruptcy. Assist potential purchasers of assets from troubled companies both in and out of bankruptcy.

Community Banking:
Provide banks, thrifts and other financial institutions with a comprehensive spectrum of specialized legal services. Represent clients in bank regulatory work, commercial and real estate lending, workouts, restructurings, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, and general corporate and securities law.

Construction:
Represent public and private owners, developers, lenders, general contractors, construction managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and material suppliers in all aspects of construction law.

Corporate & Securities:
Advise clients in connection with registration, reporting and compliance matters under federal and state securities laws and regulations. Extensive experience in public and private placements of debt and equity securities, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, stock exchange compliance and general corporate governance matters, and the negotiation and documentation of a wide range of business transactions.

Energy:
Represent clients in the energy and renewable energy industry, including merchant generators, retail electricity suppliers, end users of electricity and municipal-owned utilities. Combines extensive regulatory experience with the strengths of related practice areas to provide full service legal counsel to their energy clients.

Environmental:
Represent clients in all aspects of environmental law, including business and property transactions, air and water pollution, solid and hazardous waste management, chemical regulation, coastal resource management, wetland regulation, and other land use controls.

Health Care & Long Term Care:
Represent clients in the development, financing, licensure, patient care delivery, quality control, reimbursement and day-to-day operation of both health care institutions and individual professional practices. Represent nursing home, assisted living and senior housing providers, home health and hospice agencies regarding all aspects of long-term care, including regulatory and risk management, acquisitions and sales, commercial and tax-exempt financing, licensing, HIPAA and corporate compliance, Medicare and Medicaid audits/reimbursement, collections and evictions, work-outs and restructuring, litigation/labor and employment/OSHA.

Immigration:
Provides a full range of immigration services to corporations, schools, universities, small businesses and individuals nationwide and internationally. Prepares all petitions and applications for temporary visas or for permanent residence. Counsels foreign investors and entrepreneurs on setting up businesses in the US or investing in existing US ventures and obtaining a visa or green card based on such investment. Assist individuals seeking to reunite family members or file on behalf of family members for permanent residence or in applying for US citizenship.

Insurance Recovery:
One of the few major law firms in their region to take on the insurance industry. Coverage claims handled concern a variety of types of insurance policies including: primary, umbrella and excess policies for comprehensive general liability, property, directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, malpractice, employment practices liability, environmental impairment liability, life, health and disability, and construction and fidelity bonds.

Intellectual Property:
Represent clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including IP strategy and management counseling, patent prosecution, patent strategies and opinions, trademark, copyright, and advertising, IP transactions (licensing/ purchase/sale/transfer), patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, and patent post grant proceedings.

Labor & Employment & Employee Benefits:
Represent the interests of management in all aspects of labor and employment law. Defend claims of wrongful discharge, discrimination based on race, age, sex and disability under federal and state statutes, and ERISA violations. Represent management in labor contract negotiations, strikes and strike avoidance, and enforcement proceedings before federal and state agencies.

Litigation:
Represent national and local businesses from the Fortune 100 to closely held private companies, along with a broad range of municipal and nonprofit organizations. Regularly try cases to judges and juries in the federal and state trial courts, brief and argue appeals, and practice before federal and state administrative agencies, in private arbitration, and in mediation tribunals.

Real Estate:
Represent clients in all aspects of real estate development and finance, with emphasis on retail developments, leasing, housing, tax credit syndication, office and business park developments, and assisted living and healthcare facilities.
