THE FIRM Buckles Solicitors LLP provides a comprehensive range of legal services to businesses and individuals in the UK and internationally. It has a depth of expertise across 15 service areas and is committed to providing clients with clear and concise legal advice combined with an open and reliable client experience.

With offices in London, Nottingham, Peterborough and Stamford, Buckles provides effective and practical solutions to the legal needs of corporate, commercial and private clients. The firm has multilingual dual-qualified solicitors offering international services in property, private client and dispute matters.

Buckles’ strong international offering is underpinned by a strategic alliance with a Franco-Italian firm, CastaldiPartners. As a result, Buckles secured additional locations in Paris and Milan, allowing it to deliver services provided by multilingual commercial solicitors based overseas and in UK jurisdictions. Buckles is building on its established reputation in French and Spanish law through this arrangement and developing an on-going plan to provide legal services to clients throughout Europe.

In November 2015, Buckles was presented with the highly coveted LawNet Law Firm of the Year award, an accolade Buckles also won in 2011, and was shortlisted for the year before. Having previously been awarded with a one-star rating by Best Companies, the name behind The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list, the firm was accredited with a two-star status in 2016 and 2017. This accolade was further justified when Buckles won the LawNet Excellence in Employee Engagement award in 2016. The firm has achieved the Investors in People Gold accreditation and is recognised as an Exemplar Employer. Buckles is dual Lexcel and ISO 9001:2008 accredited. Furthermore, the firm holds the Cyber Essentials Standard Plus accreditation, a government and industry standard and the Investors in Environment Green Award 2017.

The firm is a member of LawNet, the UK’s leading group of law firms. Membership provides access to resources normally only available in the largest law firms, ensuring that the quality of service that clients receive is second to none. Accordingly, the majority of Buckles’ work comes from recommendations or referrals made by existing clients or business contacts.

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK
Buckles Solicitors LLP is legally focused and relationship driven. This ethos applies to interaction between its departments as well as with clients. Across the firm, teams work closely in partnership when appropriate to deliver a comprehensive service and achieve the best possible outcome for each client.

Individuals & Families:
Buckles advises individuals on all aspects of wealth management, family law matters, private property, tax planning and personal injury claims. The firm has specific expertise in helping clients protect their assets from care home fees, through carefully drafted Wills, trusts or investments. The firm’s multilingual international team advises on all aspects of buying and selling property in France and Spain, as well as inheritance and tax, cross-border estate planning, wills, and disputes and litigation.

Businesses:
The firm assists and supports business clients in their day-to-day operations from business start-up, through expansion by organic growth or acquisition, including amalgamation or sale. Whether they are a large institutional business, small owner-managed company or public company, clients can expect the same high quality of service for which Buckles is renowned. The firm takes great pride in giving technically proficient advice and practical commercial solutions to legal problems when they arise.

Construction & Engineering:
Buckles’ construction and engineering team offers expert advice on procurement solutions and construction dispute resolution to clients in the private and public sector. The firm’s clients range from developers (including housing associations) to building contractors, specialist sub-contractors, education establishments, commercial occupiers and funders.

Planning:
Buckles’ planning department supports construction and property teams in allowing the firm to provide a full property and development service, from acquisition to planning, through to the construction phase and onward disposal. The department has a wealth of experience and acts on various planning issues from objections to third-party planning applications to removal of agricultural occupancy conditions, and development and enforcement issues.

Agriculture & Rural:
The members of the firm’s agricultural team combine a wide range of disciplines across the practice – lawyers specialising in property, tax, trust and wealth preservation services, matrimonial and other family disputes, and corporate services. Agricultural clients receive a comprehensive and seamless service, and the team deals with combinations of property, tax, inheritance and family matters as required.

Social Housing:
The firm’s housing law department has a wealth of experience in assisting registered providers, local authorities, government departments, landlords and property managers in dealing with contentious and non-contentious housing issues. The firm’s strength lies in working in partnership with clients to ensure the most effective solution in a timely and cost-effective manner. The team has specific expertise in advising social landlords in relation to a range of legal issues, including development and acquisitions, construction and anti-social behaviour.

BUCKLESconnect:
Buckles established a free support network for law firms and other professionals, offering access to its legal expertise in niche areas. Operating a referral system on a membership basis, independent firms can refer cases for their clients to BUCKLESconnect without fear of losing them to a competitor. The network covers Contentious Probate, Construction & Engineering, Planning, French Law and Spanish Law. If a referring firm cannot deal with a matter due to conflict or because it falls outside their areas of expertise, BUCKLESconnect can assist in connecting clients to the specialist area of law they require.
