Firm Overview:
Established in 1991 in Santiago, Chile, Albagli Zaliasnik’s highly respected status is rooted in its unique approach to legal services, which led to the development of the AZ Compliance model – a new strategy focused on prevention that evaluates the traditional legal services. AZ’s experience and vision in multiple practice areas of law, as well as their specialized knowledge in a variety of industries, allows the firm to fully satisfy the needs and requirements of its clients, thus leading them to the most adequate and efficient solutions.

Main Areas of Practice:

Corporate:

AZ has expansive experience in corporate counseling for domestic and foreign companies. Its corporate team has extensive experience in the practice of corporate mergers and acquisitions, counseling clients in structuring, planning, and execution of regional and global acquisitions; with a particular focus on retail, food and beverage, energy, and real estate deals. AZ has represented sellers, buyers, venture capitalists, investment funds, private equity players and financial backers in various transactions such as mergers, divesting, reorganisation, acquisitions and other types of corporate deals.

Compliance:
In response to an increase in the quantity and complexity of the legal regulation of economic activities, at a general level and more strongly in those called 'regulated industries', AZ offers a preventive and systematic legal risk management program focused on the implementation of internal compliance controls and executive and officer training. AZ works on developing compliance strategies for clients in various industries, within the public and private sectors.

Intellectual & Industrial Property:
AZ is one of the main players in intellectual property matters in Chile, hailed for its stand-out performances in pharmaceutical patent litigation, as well as oppositions and cancellation actions. Its IP counsel is complete with regulatory advice, making it a favorite among international players. AZ has extensive expertise in anti-counterfeiting, IP litigation, copyright and domain names, as well as a variety of patent and trademark matters (both prosecution and contentious). AZ’s IP practice is also at the forefront of new legal fields for Chile such as advertising law. AZ is a founding member of GALA, (Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance), and continues to be its exclusive member from Chile.

Labour & Employment:
AZ’s labour and employment department is known throughout Chile and Latin America in the areas of litigation and collective bargaining specifically including dispute settlement, lawsuits and labour claims for our national and international clients. AZ's most recent project has been involved with implementing the Labor Reform introduced in 2015, specifically regarding union regulations and their role in the negotiation process.

Litigation:
AZ’s litigation group is one of its most renowned practice areas. The different types of conflicts and disputes its clients face, both domestically and internationally, have enabled AZ’s team to adapt to and successfully perform in various intricate legal scenarios. AZ is considered one of the most prestigious firms in Chile in litigation matters, its lawyers are valued not only for their ample ability in designing strategies and adopting decisions prior to trial, but also for their skills and capacity to prepare and carry out the disputes presented before them until they obtain the best possible outcome for their clients.

Life Sciences:
AZ handles several cases related to life sciences conflicts, regulatory issues of the pharmaceutical industry, and patent infringement. The firm actively participates in the designing and drafting of regulations in the pharmaceutical, biological and biotechnological fields alongside key industry players and represents its clients’ interests in front of the Health Authorities, Patent Authorities, and the Chilean Competition Authorities.
