Current View:

This content is provided by Cocalis & Partners.

Firm Overview:
In its very recent reincarnation, COCALIS & PARTNERS boasts a well and long tested organisation, which allows continuous investment in human resources, technology and assets. The firm focuses in recruiting and training a limited number of carefully selected, talented and experienced lawyers, and consistently applies a “boutique” policy, offering personalised services, of a high standard, over the years.

Main Areas of Practice:

M&A:
M&A has been a key practice of the firm for more than 35 years. Its clients include corporations of diverse geographical origins, types and sizes, private equity funds and other financial sponsors, investment bankers, financial advisors and other participants in corporate transactions. Cocalis & Partners have been retained in national and international M&A projects of very substantial size in - or relating to (alphabetically) Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Greece, FYROM, Italy, Jordan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Turkey, UK, USA and Ukraine.
The firm’s experience covers several industries (alphabetically): agrochemicals, apparel, aviation, banks, chemicals, direct sales, distributors, electrical appliances, electricity distribution, electricity production, electronics, food & beverages, hotels, household products, insurance companies, logistics, media (pay television), medical appliances, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, publishing (books), scientific instruments, software, telecommunications infrastructure and services, tobacco products, a.o. What makes the firm’s M&A practice stand out, is that it is fully dedicated to business clients and their needs and is active in diverse industries while at the same time its practice areas are absolutely relevant and complementary to each other. This is an invaluable asset in understanding what is required from the firm and how it is best addressed for the specific client and industry. Cocalis & Partners exhaust every breadth and depth in addressing the individuality of each project, rather that trying to squeeze it in a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Banking & Financing:
Cocalis & Partners work both for lenders and borrowers in important lending and restructuring transactions, including large syndicated bond loans. Most recently the firm completed a multi discipline facility for a Nasdaq listed group and covered the borrower’s affiliates based in Greece as well as the wider Balkans and Mediterranean areas.

Agency & Distribution:
Cocalis & Partners have an important practice in this area, with full service clients in the automotive, TMT and appliances sectors, as well as individual project clients. The firm advises DEPA AE, the major Greek natural gas importer and distributor, in setting up a country wide natural gas supply network for motor vehicles, including the establishment of a new regulatory environment both for the filling stations, but also for the retrofitting of the existing vehicles fleet.

Competition:
The firm advises several clients on competition issues, in the TMT, distribution networks, food and beverages, agrochemicals, cars, motorcycles, appliances, financial services a.o sectors.

TMT:
Cocalis & Partners is the leading Greek firm in this area. The firm combines in depth knowledge of regulatory, competition and commercial issues. The firm recently advised a market entrant on the use of spectrum; the Greek subsidiary of a foreign operator in network deployment and security issues. It also advised several clients on software agreements and TMT services agreements.

Dispute Resolution:
At any given time, Cocalis & Partners runs a multitude of diverse, atypical cases, each of substantial size and considerable complexity and work hard to keep the firms success rate at a very high level.
The firm excels in commercial arbitration, civil litigation (mainly corporate, commercial and financial) administrative litigation (mainly tax, customs and regulatory) and white collar criminal, and cover all aspects touching upon an operating business, its stakeholders managers and personnel.
The firm’s practice is dedicated to commercial, corporate, financial, investment, M&A and technical disputes and covers national litigation as well as national, ad hoc and international arbitration, mostly in cases where either the applicable law or the venue or a party or assets relate to Greece. The firm’s practice covers all sector specific independent authorities, committees, tribunals, panels and other fora.
