Sandra has a broad commercial practice with particular focus on shipping, international trade, insurance and energy. Sandra regularly appears in the Commercial Court and in arbitration proceedings. She has experience acting as sole advocate and with leading counsel. Recent work includes: obtaining an anti-suit injunction in a carriage of goods dispute; Aspen Underwriting Limited and others v Kairos Shipping Limited and Others, in which Sandra acts for insurers in a claim to recover insurance proceeds paid in relation to The Atlantik Confidence; acting for a major European utility company in an international arbitration about the consequence of breach of a conﬁdentiality agreement in relation to Kurdish gas concessions; acting in numerous shipbuilding arbitrations; Glencore Energy UK Ltd v Cirrus Oil Services Limited, which involved a disputed contract for the sale and purchase of Nigerian crude oil.
Many of Sandra’s cases involve issues about jurisdiction and interim relief and Sandra relishes opportunities to bring her experience to bear in such cases.
