The leading business and financial newspaper and online portal Ziarul Financiar, awarded the firm the award for the FMCG biggest and most important transaction, and also nominated it for a second major FMCG transaction for one of the largest transactions in the chemicals industry. The department is co-headed by the two expert founding partners, who have played key roles in several outstanding M&As and corporate projects over the last 16 years. The cumulated hands-on expertise of the team covers all niche aspects of M&A deals including competition, merger control and compliance audits.

■ Representing the central Romanian authority in charge with the management and privatisation of State participations, in connection with an intricate dispute encompassing over 15 litigation files concerning one of the largest Romanian traders with metallurgical products
■ Representing an important European sports equipment manufacturer, in a highly complex debt recovery dispute involving the insolvency of a commercial partner, civil debt recovery along with criminal matters pertaining to embezzlement, tax evasion and money laundering
■ Representing an industrial client in several complex taxation matters including the annulment of various decisions issued by the Court of Accounts and fiscal authorities concerning various tax payments
■ Representing major companies such as financial services division of a world leading automotive group, leading European car rental group, etc., regarding the management of litigation portfolios comprising hundreds of commercial litigations of various natures
■ Representing national and international companies as well as private individuals regarding allegations of tax evasion and money laundering in prosecutions initiated by the National Anticorruption Department (DNA) and the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime (DIICOT). Total value of files exceeds EUR 1.5 billion
■ Assistance regarding allegations of tax evasion, money laundering and organised crime stemming from criminal investigations against 69 custom and border police officers

Restructuring & Insolvency/Insolvency (Restructuring & Bankruptcy):
With a specialised insolvency house on board and outstanding financial expertise of one of its partners, MPR is able to handle highly complex restructuring and insolvency cases from all angles, including the technical/ financial side. MPR is known for turning restructuring and insolvency into efficient tools used to enable M&A deals, recovery of debts and improvement of a company’s management.

■ Advising a European investment group on the financing of a Romanian textile producer with global presence (60 countries) undergoing insolvency proceedings
■ Representing the financial services division of a large automotive dealership in over 50 debt recovery disputes against companies undergoing insolvency proceedings
■ Represented a central Romanian authority in connection with the insolvency of an important privatised company
■ Assisted several European groups regarding the restructuring of their Romanian subsidiaries
■ Advising a global sports equipment manufacturing company regarding a highly complex debt recovery dispute involving amongst others the debtor’s insolvency

■ Advice to the leading Romanian distributor of utility vehicles on competition compliance assessment for distribution systems and relationships with all the company’s suppliers
■ Advice to one of the leading Romanian industrial groups and leading CEE producer of chemicals in exchanges with the European Commission regarding State aid recovery matters, as well as merger clearance pertaining to one of the leading M&A transactions in Romania
■ Advising an important business infrastructure development company in partnership with a local authority on State aid law on assets and capex contributed by local communities for the development of a 50 hectares industrial park
■ Advice to the majority shareholder of a leading Romanian FMCG company regarding all competition matters pertaining to the sale thereof
