Chambers UK ranks the best lawyers and law firms handling all aspects of non-contentious real estate work relating to both commercial and residential property, including investment transactions, development, corporate structuring, acquisitions, portfolio management, and landlord and tenant matters. These rankings do not take into account contentious real estate work or real estate finance as these are considered separately.
As the largest and most active market we cover, our London rankings are designed to reflect the depth and variety of work being handled by solicitors at all levels. Firms are therefore ranked in one of three sub-tables depending on numerous factors, including transactional values.
For firms and solicitors ranked in Big-Ticket, we expect to see consistent involvement in the most substantial investment transactions (including inward investment) with matter values averaging at £150 million and above. Many will also take the lead on very significant development schemes, including tall buildings and city centre redevelopments. They may also handle prime lettings work on behalf of major landlords and the most high-profile corporate occupiers. Clients will likely include large property companies and national developers along with institutional investors, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds.
