Career
Tanja Šumar is an attorney at law mostly focused on commercial and investment arbitration in Serbia and the region. With more than 11 years of experience, she has been involved in arbitrations under all major sets of arbitration rules, including ICC, UNCITRAL (1976 and 2010), LCIA, FTCA/PA (Foreign Trade Court of Arbitration with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce/Permanent Arbitration with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce), ICSID and ICSID Additional Facility. Tanja was part of the team advising State of Montenegro to seven major arbitration wins, five in investor-state arbitrations and two in high-value and high-complexity commercial arbitrations and continued advice to the State in enforcement and challenge proceedings. Her most recent mandates include investor-side representation in a high-value and complexity ICSID arbitration against Serbia. She also regularly acts in civil enforcement and litigation proceedings in Serbia and Montenegro, including in matters concerning issues of private international law, recognition and enforcement, and setting aside of arbitral awards.
