Sean Gates is a trial lawyer and former Federal Trade Commission official, who left an AmLaw 50 partnership to start his own firm, Charis Lex P.C.

Known for his antitrust work, he is one of the few attorneys in the nation who has tried multiple antitrust cases. His other trials have involved a range of issues—such as trade secrets, patent infringement damages, and stock options. Drawing on his engineering background, Mr. Gates also specializes in commercial cases involving technology issues.

Mr. Gates has been described in Chambers USA as a “talented litigator, who is recognized for his work as a trial attorney.” He was named an “Attorney of the Year” by California Lawyer. And he has been listed among the Southern California Super Lawyers since 2012.
