Rick Cederoth is a partner in Sidley’s Chicago office. His decades-long litigation and trial practice focuses on high technology matters involving software, computers, smartphones, semiconductors, and consumer electronics. Rick has been at the forefront of litigation over Standard Essential Patents and FRAND obligations, as trial counsel in multiple bench, ITC, and jury trials in this area – as well as the ensuing debates over applicable legal principles. He has represented numerous technology companies in highly-contested cases in all the leading patent litigation venues across the country. Mr. Cederoth also has taught a number of patent-related courses as an Adjunct at Northwestern University School of Law and appeared on numerous speaker panels related to Standard Essential Patents, FRAND licensing, and patent valuation principles.
Richard is a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the American Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association and Bradley University Electrical Engineering Alumni Advisory Board.
