Career

Peter defends and prosecutes serious high-profile cases. Has appeared as sole advocate or leading junior in murder, fraud, drug conspiracies, baby-shaking, rape, historic sexual abuse and multi-handed sex-trafficking. Privately-funded defence work has included drug conspiracies, sexual offences, fraud, motoring cases and defending pub landlords. Has appeared in numerous Court of Appeal cases and delivered seminars to lawyers on sexual offences and expert evidence. Level 4 Specialist Rape Counsel.

Recent instructions have included prosecuting Duane Taylor, who was convicted of possessing a sawn-off shotgun with intent to endanger life, and successfully obtaining the admission of vital hearsay evidence from body worn video; being defence junior for Louise Porton, who was convicted of murdering her two daughters; defending Kyle Watson, who was charged with causing GBH with intent, and against whom the prosecution offered no evidence after prosecution witnesses were discredited in cross-examination; defending David Wesley, charged with historic sexual offences, who was unfit to give evidence in his own defence, but was nevertheless acquitted of the most serious charges he faced; and prosecuting Andrzej Guzdraj, who was convicted of supplying an exceptionally vulnerable teenager with ecstasy before raping her.
