Career

Non-fiction book editor for 10 years in UK and USA. Elected 'Mother' of the NUJ chapel at Hutchinson Books, discovered taste for advocacy. Called to the UK Bar 1988. Initial common law practice dominated by criminal defence (over 100 Crown Court trials), plus personal injury, employment, discrimination and education law. Specialised in medical cases in 1996. Busy High Court and appellate practice; regularly instructed in major multi-million pound cases on both liability and quantum, especially brain and spinal injury; cancer; psychiatric negligence; fatal accidents. Took silk 2011. Appointed Recorder (in Crime) 2018.
