Michael heads the Russian banking and finance practice and has broad experience in advising on the largest and most innovative financings in Russia to date. He specialises in acquisition/other event-driven financings, real estate financings, private placements of debt securities, project financings, securitisations, pre-export financings, derivatives, ECA financings, asset finance, syndicated loans, insolvencies and debt restructurings.
His clients include Mizuho Bank, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas, Barclays, SMBC, Sberbank, VTB Capital, ING, Gazprombank, HSBC, Vnesheconombank, Deutsche Bank, Société Générale, BoA, Citi, UniCredit and EDB, as well as a variety of creditor steering committees in some of Russia’s largest workouts.

Michael joined Linklaters in 2001 and became a partner in 2003. Before joining Linklaters, he spent one year on secondment to the Finance Department of Marconi Plc, London. He has also worked for international law firms in London and New York.
He has a B.A. from Princeton University and holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.
