Practice Areas

Practice focus is on international arbitration. As counsel represented Swiss and foreign companies as well as foreign governments in numerous international arbitrations in Switzerland and elsewhere. Served as arbitrator (chairman, co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator) in more than 150 international arbitrations with seats in Europe, North America and Asia, under a variety of institutional rules (ICC, Swiss Rules, DIS, VIAC, SCC, ICDR, SIAC, ICSID) as well as in ad hoc proceedings. Arbitration experience extends to disputes relating to M&A transactions, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, energy supply contracts (oil, gas and electricity), licensing and distribution, EPC contracts (nuclear, coal and biomass fired power plants, windparks, gas storage facilities, pipelines, oil refineries, steel mills, manufacturing facilities of all kinds), construction (highways, railways), project financing, start-up ventures, air and railway transportation, telecommunications, competition/state aid, investor-state disputes, etc. Serves also on Dispute Boards.


Qualified in 1977. Partner at Homburger until 2015, Senior Counsel as of 2016.
