María Fernanda has been part of the firm since 2008, as a banking and finance expert, making partner in 2019. Prior to joining Mayora & Mayora, she was head of the Department for Special Verification at Guatemala's Banking Superintendence, as well as legal counsel for various national and international banks. Her professional experience has provided her with an intimate knowledge of complex banking and finance regulations, rarely matched by other Guatemalan jurists.
She has been a university professor for over twenty years in courses such as Commercial Law, Civil Law, Financial Institutions, among others. Her postgraduate studies include courses on banking, money laundering, financing of terrorism and administrative law at institutions in Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica and Spain.
