Practice Areas

Marcus heads Linklaters’ antitrust and foreign investment practice in Hong Kong SAR and is praised by clients in Chambers for his "client-centric approach" and the "commercially sensible advice" he provides. They describe him as a "rising star with a wide breadth of experience".

He regularly advises on multijurisdictional merger control matters, focusing on assisting Asian and Chinese clients on a range of acquisitions and joint ventures, with experience in several industries including financial services, healthcare, IT, telecommunications, food & beverage and consumer sectors.

Marcus is known for his regulatory insights having been a former in-house lawyer at the Hong Kong Competition Commission. He has extensive experience advising on antitrust matters before the HKCC as well as agencies in other emerging competition regimes in Asia. This includes notable “firsts” and precedent setting investigations, including the first ever cartel prosecution before Hong Kong’s Competition Tribunal and Court of Appeal and the first ever abuse of dominance prosecution before the Competition Tribunal.

Prior to moving to Asia, Marcus was based in Brussels and Beijing and worked on a range of global merger, cartel and antitrust matters– including investigations with complex remedy/commitment processes in the EU and China, leniency applications, and multi-national litigation.
