Leopoldo is partner at the firm and heads the environmental law and natural resources practice area. With over 30 years of experience, Leopoldo is a pioneer of this practice in Mexico and brings a wealth of knowledge on all environmental law aspects and related areas, with extensive expertise on corporate governance (ESG), sustainable development goals (SDG), and environmental and social principles. Leopoldo advises his clients through all aspects of complex asset acquisition processes, cross-border transactions, planning and project and finance infrastructure, where he always assesses the management of social issues across different stages. He also leads in the implementation of risk management and crisis programs.
His practice also encompasses energy, water management, hazardous waste control (including cross-border transportation), atmospheric pollution, environmental impact and due diligence, auditing, climate change, emissions market, natural protected areas. He also guides on land contamination and soil restoration, mining, forestry, oil and gas activities, ethical standards, cannabis use, project development with cross-border implications as well as environmental litigation and dispute resolution.
