Practice Areas

Laurie Kleiman is global co-leader of Sidley’s Investment Funds practice. She advises U.S. and non-U.S. managers to investment products of all types – including hedge funds, registered funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, collateral managers and managed accounts – with respect to U.S. federal and state investment manager registration, regulation and compliance issues, regulatory examinations and enforcement proceedings. Laurie also represents investment managers in connection with fund and manager mergers, acquisitions and governance issues. Laurie has been recognized by multiple industry publications, both for her work with investment managers and on diversity and inclusion in the law. She also serves on the firm’s COVID-19 Task Force and Professional Risk Management Committee.

Professional Memberships

Laurie is an active proponent of advancement of women in the legal profession. She is former firmwide co-chair and a member of Sidley’s Committee on Retention and Promotion of Women, which oversees the Sidley Women initiative. She is a member of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) advisory board and a member of 100 Women in Finance and the Financial Women’s Association. She is also a member of the Vanderbilt University Law School Alumni Board and the Adaptive Sports Foundation executive board.
