Julian is a partner in TLT's renowned licensing team, which (uniquely) works across all three UK jurisdictions. He has over 30 years' experience of winning cases across the UK for a broad range of iconic and prestigious clients. Julian is known for his creative thinking and determination to leave no stone unturned in his relentless drive to assist his clients in achieving and maintaining a competitive edge. He obtained the first ever 24 hour entertainment licence (Ministry of Sound); changed the composition of the appellate tribunal for all appeals (Gosling); and convinced Westminster City Council (itself) to grant a new 24 hour premises licence in the very heart of its fiercely guarded Cumulative Impact Zone (W). When faced with the challenge that it would be unlawful to grant his client a licence, he changed the law (Odyessey Belfast). Described by his peers as a "formidable opponent" Julian has been independently recognised as a leading licensing practitioner consistently for 30 years.
He sits on the National Licensing Forum, is a Fellow of the Institute of Licensing, a Companion of the British Institute of Innkeeping and a member of UK Hospitality
