John Doolan is a partner in Miller Thomson’s Vancouver office and co-lead of the firm’s Aboriginal Law Group. He has extensive experience in commercial real estate and Aboriginal business law, focusing on strategic planning, project structuring, partnerships and joint ventures, financing, governance and regulation of land development. Mr. Doolan represents both First Nations and developers, including acting for Tsawwassen First Nation on the landmark Tsawwassen Mills shopping centre, infrastructure development, major industrial leasing projects and development regulation. He acts for the Tsuut’ina-Canderel Land Development Limited Partnership on the ground-breaking, master planned 1,200 acre Taza development southwest of the City of Calgary. Mr. Doolan has acted for lenders and borrowers on a range of high value financings on First Nation land. His deep experience brings considerable value to any sophisticated transaction or development project involving First Nation land or interests.
