Joanna Thomson led the case which resulted in the Government announcing an Article 3-compliant public inquiry into mistreatment at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre. She is currently representing core participants in the subsequent inquiry into abuse at Brook House IRC. Joanna is also instructed in complex unlawful detention Judicial Review challenges. Her most recent success is the successful challenge to the legality of Government’s Schedule 10 bail accommodation policy, in the case of R (on the application of Humnyntskyi & Ors) v Secretary of State for the Home Department  EWHC 1912 (Admin). She is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor on various complex detention and trafficking claims; and private law claims in the County Court.
