Jo Rickards is a partner in the firm's white collar crime & investigations group. A recognised expert handling cases involving corruption, money laundering, cartels, fraud and contentious financial services, she has advised directors, boards and companies in the UK and internationally for over 20 years. She advises on cases that involve proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, and deals regularly with the SFO, FCA, CMA and CPS in the UK and the DoJ and SEC in the US. Jo's numerous high profile cases include: the representation of former News of the World Editor Andy Coulson in respect of phone hacking allegations at the Old Bailey; Silvio Berlusconi in mutual legal assistance proceedings in respect of allegations of corruption; and currently advises the Ahsani family in respect of the investigations into Unaoil. She has been involved in all the major SFO investigations since the office was created, from Guinness and Maxwell to Versailles and Tesco. She also has extensive experience of insider dealing prosecutions and market abuse investigations, successfully navigating clients through bank internal investigations arising from the last financial crisis involving LIBOR and Forex. Her work for corporate clients includes involvement in the J&J civil recovery settlement of the legacy liability after acquiring DePuy. She has particular expertise in internal investigations for companies in connection with their failure to prevent obligations, and regularly advises companies operating in the gambling sector in respect of money laundering issues.
