Jeffrey L. Kochian leads Akin Gump’s corporate practice. He primarily focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions (including private equity transactions), shareholder activism campaigns and other complex transactions. Mr. Kochian also provides ongoing advice to clients on a full spectrum of corporate matters, including fiduciary duties and corporate governance, ’34 Act issues and strategic investments. Recent transactions include Diamondback’s $9.2 billion acquisition of Energen Corporation, Kingston Technology’s $18 billion acquisition (as a member of a Bain Capital-led consortium) of Toshiba Memory Corporation, and Durational Capital’s leveraged buyout of Bojangles’, Inc., together with The Jordan Company. He also advises many high-profile activist investors on their investments, as well as providing ongoing strategic advice to many public companies with respect to their shareholders.
