Harry P. Cohen is a partner in the Insurance/Reinsurance group of Crowell & Moring LLP. For 36 years, his litigation and counseling practice has focused on complex insurance coverage and reinsurance dispute resolution. As lead counsel, Harry has represented insurers, reinsurers, brokers, agents, and others, in arbitrations, litigations, negotiations, mediations, and many uncontested matters where the clients’ goals were to manage their portfolios, avoid disputes altogether, or evaluate and understand the nature and scope of the actual or potential exposure they faced. His work has included all product lines, including property/casualty; life, accident & health; workers’ compensation, and finite reinsurance. He has handled virtually every procedural and substantive issue that is involved in the business of insurance Those include cutting edge and vexing issues that have been front-page news and challenged even sophisticated industry players, in disputes from coverage for long-tail liabilities, to workers’ compensation carve-out losses (including spiral and arbitrage), to losses presented under finite or financial reinsurance contracts, to today’s most pressing issues such as coverage for sexual molestation and complex business interruption losses.
