Donna Thiel is a shareholder focusing on the Medicare Program which accounts for roughly 25 percent of spending on hospital care, and 23 percent on physician services. As federal budgets shrink, and the US population ages, Medicare is undergoing constant change, and even disruption. To businesses reliant on the Medicare payment for patient care, Donna offers legal expertise, practical guidance, and insight based on her over-thirty years of experience in addressing the changing requirements in Medicare payment, coverage and compliance.
Donna is familiar with practitioners', providers' and suppliers' business operations. That familiarity enables her to offer sound, practical approaches to achieving their legal compliance while also maintaining their commitment to quality care. She offers advice and training on the implementation of new regulatory requirements.
Donna also assists clients with fraud and abuse enforcement challenges, including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback law. She advocates for clients in audits and investigations, claims denials by regulators, contractors and specialty auditors such as UPICs and RACs, as well as statistical sampling, and administrative appeals.
