Carlos is a transactional and regulatory finance lawyer, and a key member of Greenberg Traurig’s Mexico City Fintech and Payments practices. He specializes in domestic and cross-border credit facilities and offerings of all kinds of debt and equity securities in the corporate and project finance arenas, as well as in mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector.
He has extensive experience advising domestic and international investors in establishing or acquiring control of local banking, insurance, broker-dealer, mutual fund, investment advisory, non-bank lending (SOFOM) and payment participant licenses or registrations in Mexico.
On the regulatory side, he has extensive experience in the authorization and general compliance aspects of Mexican banks, non-bank financial intermediaries, insurance companies and payment services providers, having helped some of them obtain their regulatory licenses or registrations.
Given his background and his fascination for tech-enabled business models, Carlos has been particularly well positioned to advise players in the evolving Mexican FinTech ecosystem, which has grown significantly and steadily in Mexico during the last four years.
