Practice Areas

A broad practice spanning commercial and chancery litigation and arbitration with a particular emphasis on company and insolvency proceedings, and civil fraud.

A significant part of her practice relates to offshore litigation. She acted as lead Counsel in the Cayman Islands’ AHAB v Saad Investments Company Ltd litigation (appearing for the successful Defendants at the year-long trial). She is currently retained on a substantial fraud case in Bermuda involving allegations of breach of confidence and fiduciary duty. She has also advised in various cases in the BVI, Guernsey and Jersey, including cases involving allegations of breach of duty and misrepresentation in fund management disputes. She advised in the matter of Crystal Lake Investments Limited [2021] JRC 104, on the application of Article 115 of the Companies (Jersey) Law 1991.

She regularly acts in cases involving allegations of breach of directors' duties and in particular minority shareholder, limited liability partnership joint venture disputes (including in the telecoms and energy sectors) . She is currently acting in a number of unfair prejudice and just and equitable winding up petitions, and acts for the Defendant in the Ryan v HSBC litigation (derivative claims [2023] EWHC 1066 (Ch); recusal [2023] EWHC 90 (Ch)).

She also regularly advises on insolvency and regulatory matters. For example, she has advised in relation to the insolvency of law firms; on issues arising in relation to Finablr Plc, and on the administration of the ProjectCo in a substantial NHS PFI project. She has provided expert evidence on English insolvency law. She has also been instructed in divorce proceedings in relation to alleged transactions at an undervalue.

She acts in a broad range of commercial disputes including cases alleging misrepresentation and breach of warranty. She recently appeared in ERED v Treon [2021] EWHC 2866 (limitation; misrepresentation).

Her practice includes cross-border merger applications, and insurance business transfer schemes.

In 2020, she was appointed as a Chair of the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
