Litigation/Insurance Defense:
The firm handles diverse litigation matters for insurance and business clients involving personal injury, property damage, construction, product liability, contract matters, and a wide range of employment disputes. The firm represents international, national, and local businesses in federal and state courts, and administrative forums. Insurance defense, including EPLI matters, is a core practice area at Hattersley Walter.

The firm represents employers of all sizes, including regular representation of large employers headquartered outside of Montana as well as local businesses in litigation matters. With offices in western and eastern Montana, the firm’s statewide employment practice serves the needs of a diversified clientele including technology, hospitality, retail, hotels and resorts, hospitals and healthcare services industries, telecommunications, manufacturers, mining, energy and oil and gas, as well as agricultural, timber and construction industries. The firm’s practice covers all forums, including litigation in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. The firm defends employers against claims such as wrongful discharge, discrimination, wage and hour violations, and independent contractor status. The firm also routinely advises employers in risk prevention, day-to-day management decisions, including terminations, disciplinary matters, reviewing and drafting employment policies, and contract negotiations.

Labor Arbitrator/Mediator Services:
Francis (Hank) Raucci is of counsel with Hattersley Walter, and he serves as an arbitrator and mediator in a wide variety of employment and labor matters. Hank is a Fellow of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and serves as an Early Neutral Evaluator for the US District Court, Appellate Mediation Panel of the Supreme Court of Montana, Court Appointed Special Masters, and the national panels of the American Arbitration Association for commercial law, ERISA, labor and employment law, and the Affordable Care Act both as an arbitrator and mediator. He has also been appointed to the national panel of mediators and arbitrators by the Asbestos Personal Injury Trust Funds. He has participated in over 500 labor agreements, handled scores of arbitrations, and managed over 200 labor and employment litigated cases. Until recently he served as trustee on Taft-Hartley health and pensions with combined assets in excess of $10 billion.
