Dispute Resolution:

Nick Gall leads this practice area. As a litigation firm, Gall handles a broad variety of cases. The firm has one of the leading insolvency practices in Hong Kong. Nick Gall, Chris Wong and Evelyn Chan are experienced in major insolvency and restructuring cases. The firm is regularly retained by liquidators, creditors, bondholders and distressed companies.

Employment:
Gall is one of the few firms in Hong Kong that acts for both employers and employees. It acts for employees mainly in the banking and financial services sector, and for local and multinational employers in manufacturing, logistics, insurance and hi-tech industries. Gall advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters, including negotiation of contracts and severance agreements, bonus entitlements, discrimination claims, and claims in the Labour Tribunal and High Court. The employment department also advises on enforceability of restrictive covenants and the movement of large teams between firms. Gall regularly acts for other law firms who require Hong Kong transaction support as well as local employment and data privacy support for investigations into employee wrongdoing (such as FCPA and harassment claims). Nick Gall heads the practice with Andrea Randall, who has extensive experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment law work.

The fraud and asset tracing team regularly advises on domestic and cross-border disputes arising from commercial fraud, asset misappropriation and business crime. Recent work has concentrated on Ponzi schemes, directors’ breaches of fiduciary duties, misappropriation of assets and diversion of corporate opportunities and matters involving the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. China Related Matters:
Gall handles large scale China related matters where clients require day-to-day contact in the Chinese language. Chris Wong leads a multilingual team advising clients on Hong Kong legal aspects of China related matters, including contractual disputes, debt recovery, injunctions in aid of PRC court proceedings, arbitration and enforcement, shareholders and joint ventures disputes, enforcing PRC judgments in Hong Kong, cross border insolvency and asset tracing exercises.
