THE FIRM Established in 2004, Eastwoods’ longstanding expertise is in regulatory and disciplinary law, particularly in the healthcare sector, although the firm focuses on the defence of individuals, often professionals, across a much wider range, including in criminal, regulatory and civil matters, and on representation of individuals at Coroners’ inquests.

The firm operates exclusively on the defence side, offering expert advice and representation to individual clients, insurers and medical defence organisations. It has significant experience in the health regulatory forums (e.g. MPTS, GDC, HCPC, NMC), in defending criminal cases and NHS Counter Fraud Authority investigations (including attendance at interviews under caution), in representing individuals in inquests/Coroners’ investigations (one of the partners sits as an Assistant Coroner), in defending clinical negligence and other civil proceedings, in hospital trust disciplinary proceedings and NHS Performers List matters, and in appeals and Judicial Review proceedings. Eastwoods has expertise in employment cases, including representation of Dr Eva Carneiro in her Employment Tribunal proceedings against Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho. The firm also has extensive experience in sports disciplinary work, having advised and represented individuals in numerous (occasionally high profile) antidoping, selection and other sports law matters.
