Overview

The clinical negligence team at Potter Rees Dolan is considered by many to be unique. Approximately 80 percent of our cases are brought on behalf of clients who have suffered either a brain or spinal injury. The balance involves individuals that have suffered other significant and serious injuries, including amputation. We have historically pursued very challenging cases which other firms have turned down or failed to progress.

Between August 2019 and August 2020, our Clinical Negligence department alone secured damages for 12 cases totalling over £20 million. This gives an average settlement of around £1.7 million.

Helen Budge secured a substantial figure of £7.75 million in 2019 for a man who suffered complete paraplegia as a consequence of a failure to identify a burst fracture of the vertebra due to a spinal abscess.

Our Clinical Negligence department offers clients a genuinely personalised service. All clients meet the solicitor who will be dealing with their case at the outset, and receive a gold standard service throughout the life of their case.

We are known externally for having a rigorous approach to litigation along with forensic attention to detail; we are considered formidable opponents, with strong advocacy skills and a zero tolerance policy on any unreasonable Defendant delay.
