This content is provided by Pinheiro Guimarães.

Over the last decades Pinheiro Guimarães has been involved in several debt refinancing and restructuring transactions.

Pinheiro Guimarães was involved in the two inaugural large reorganizations filed under the Brazilian bankruptcy law enacted in 2005 – Parmalat and Varig – and since then has been consistently engaged by creditors (either individually or through ad hoc committees) in most of the relevant bankruptcies that followed, and by the most important players in this industry in connection with their investments in projects related to special insolvency situations.

More recently, Pinheiro Guimarães has been involved in several leading cases, such as in the restructuring of the financial debt of Empresa Brasileira de Telecomunicações S.A. - Embratel, the judicial reorganizations of Independência S.A. and OGX Petróleo e Gás and also in the restructuring of the financial debt of Odebrecht Energia S.A.

Pinheiro Guimarães' team has extensive experience in both banking and litigation, which has served well in connection with several types of bankruptcy related engagements in addition to debt refinancings and restructurings.

Pinheiro Guimarães has seen its practice grow in recent years to include a significant number of clients in Brazil as well as many offshore creditor groups such as bondholders, commercial and investment banks, investment funds and multi-lateral organisations.
