About

Provided by Dechert LLP

The opening of Dechert’s Almaty office in 2012 marked both the firm’s expansion into Kazakhstan as well as a significant enhancement of our global energy practice.

Our multilingual team of U.S. and Kazakh-qualified lawyers advise on domestic and cross-border transactions and disputes in Kazakhstan and the wider CIS. We conduct business in Russian, Kazakh and English with equal dexterity.

Dechert’s Almaty team advises domestic and international clients on corporate transactions, financings and other aspects of their upstream, midstream and downstream operations, including exploration, production, transportation, oilfield and other energy services. We draft and negotiate industry-specific agreements relating to subsoil exploitation and handle all related commercial and regulatory issues, including environmental issues.

Our lawyers focus on commercial and regulatory matters relating to long-distance, cross-border oil or gas pipelines. We have handled dozens of transactions in energy subsectors and have advised on matters such as intergovernmental agreements, expropriation issues and pre-emptive rights around the world.
